The Merlin MS Centre cafe is run entirely by a volunteer team and is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

It provides light lunches, speciality coffees and teas, plus cakes in the lovely atmosphere of the Merlin MS Centre and all the prices have been set at an affordable rate and following its first inspection was awarded a 5* food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency.

Sarah Snell, Income Generation Manager, said “Coming for a lovely coffee, tea or lunch is a way to meet people and

share experiences, helping to combat loneliness and isolation.

A lot of our clients have different therapies in one day, so the new café gives them somewhere to have a bite to eat and have a chat with other people in between their therapies"

Before the café was opened, the 12 café volunteers all underwent food hygiene and safety training; as well as barista and food preparation training.

We are still looking for volunteers, particularly to cover during holidays. If anyone already holds a food hygiene certificate and has

experience of working in a café, please contact Caroline Rickard, the volunteer co-ordinator at the Centre on 01726 885530
