Get involved in Merlin's 2020 fitness challenge event for all ages and abilities – the 100km in 100 days challenge is suitable for both seasoned sports fanatics or those aiming to get fitter.
Participants chose how they are going to clock up their kilometres – it could be a cycle, walk, swim, run, or paddle with a target to complete the distance in 100 days.
Challenge organiser Ellie May said: “Maybe you want to get fit for a holiday, enjoy walking with the family and plan to do it more regularly or you have a passion for swimming and seek a new challenge.
“The joy of this event is that it can be done in your own time and gives you the freedom to complete it by doing something you enjoy or trying something new either on your own or with friends.”
Participants will be provided with a fundraising support pack, branded charity buff, and a medal and certificate on completion. Registration for the event is £10, minimum sponsorship is £100.
Charity Trustee Steve Lawrence, whose wife Susan has Multiple Sclerosis took on his own 100k challenge last year in celebration of the charity’s 10-year anniversary.
“I have always been heavily involved in both football and running but the running really took off in 2012. I regularly run with a great bunch of people and have taken part in over 100 races. At the beginning of the year I gave myself a target of completing ten 10k runs to achieve 100k. Running is my passion but I found doing it with the goal of raising money for charity spurred me on even further, especially on the hills!”
