As a charity which provides support to over 100 people each day, our volunteers are vital to our Centre. They support us in many different ways, both at the Centre and out in the community.
Our volunteers vary in age and come from all walks of life but they all have one thing in common, they are helping to make a difference.
There are many different reasons why people chose to volunteer, often it’s to give something back but here are some of the things you could get from volunteering:
- A chance to meet new friends
- Gain confidence in a working environment
- Gain a new skill for your CV
- The knowledge that you are making a difference
- As part of a current qualification
Transport Drivers/ Escorts
We provide a daily transport service across Cornwall for our service users. The service is run entirely by volunteers. We are looking for people to drive one of our vehicles and/or escort the drivers on the trips. This will involve helping service users on and off the minibus.
We have a bright and busy cafe providing breakfast, light lunches and hot beverages to our Centre users. The cafe is manned by volunteers daily. Hospitality experience is not essential as training can be provided as long as you bring a smile.
Everyone who comes to the Centre is greeted by our receptionists who are mostly volunteers. If you love meeting and greeting, or you have administration skills you can share, this is the role for you.
We are always happy to hear from people who can become a Merlin MS Centre ambassador in their community. We currently have jam sellers, knitted chick makers, Facebook sellers, community speakers and many more wonderful people doing their bit in their local community. Are you part of a community group who could put on a fundraiser for us or support us in a special way? Let us know as we have lots of support we can offer.
As a charity we rely heavily on our fundraising team to organise some wonderful events throughout the year. We are always looking for people to help at such events which take place both at the Centre and in the community. Regular events include; pamper days, Christmas and Easter Fayres, Open Garden Schemes and Supermarket collection days. Whether you can help for an hour, or the whole day, we would love to hear from you.
